This is the best children's book I have ever read

This is the best children's book I have ever read. We keep it on our coffee table and every visitor, child or adult, picks it up and is immediately hooked. They love the story, the illustrations, and the fact that the reader is drawn into the story by the chatter between Hallie and her grandparent farmers, Lollie and Pops. What a great story about a little girl's fascination with all the love, color, activity, plant life, and animals on the farm. It's fun to anticipate her grandparents' answers to her endless questions and to share in the lessons she learns at the farm that she so loves to visit.

Hamburg beginnings

This is a thin book but no page is wasted.

Jürgen Vollmer, perhaps the least visible of the three Hamburg Exis, compacts his contribution to Beatles history between these covers. His photos (1961, second Hamburg visit) are more journalistic in style than those by Astrid Kirchherr. This was a direction he consciously aimed for. Interestingly, despite the "live" feel, they were nevertheless posed!

The oh so brief text starts in 1960 and tells of how he and his Exi friends risked scorn and drubbing to enter a Rocker's dive called the Kaiserkeller to listen to sounds fresh to their middle-class German ears. He recalls one uncomfortable tussle he had with Rockers who had no time for the British musicians on stage nor this small group of fans at the front table.

As they get to know the boys, the character of the Beatles, evident even then (1960), is wonderfully illustrated with the "Flea" incident!

We learn that George was aware that under German law he was not allowed to be in the club after 10pm and that he would leave and the others would meet up with him later. This is news to me, as I always understood he was deported precisely because he was underage...

He continues the story with the holiday in Paris where Paul and John met up with him. They soon realized their Elvis quiffs and leathers were not working on the Parisian ladies, so exchanged their clothes for arty ones and asked Jürgen to give them his hairstyle. The sole motivation for the Moptop was to pull the Parisian bohemian girls!

And that is where his story ends. Far too soon!

The text is German and Engish in parallel. Being fluent in both languages, I found the translation to be excellent (very rare!) but the German is stylistically tighter and may have been the original; although the conversations with the Beatles obviously were in English: when John wants to know why Jürgen wants to photograph the Beatles, Jürgen says "for art". John then sneers, "Who's Art?!" - the pun is lost in the German text!

The photos can be divided into four categories: Firstly, of young Hamburg people (good photos, but they convey little of the Hamburg of the time), and what seems to be three separate photo sessions with the Beatles. One was in the Top Ten club, one (2 photos from a reel of 12) of John in a doorway and a blurred George, Paul and Stuart walking past him (this became the famous Rock and Roll album cover photo) and one session with a very young George around the Hamburg harbour.

This book has a place on every Beatles fan bookshelf as the definitive Jürgen Vollmer collection of early Beatles photos. The only distraction is the insecure scattering of large print Beatles quotes to add weight to these photos. No need. Those beginnings in Hamburg, as told by an Exi with his camera and in his mother tongue make this volume eminently desirable.

Another example of truly bad writing and absolutely worth the price $00.00.

I found the unusual plot of this amateur writer amusing and bizarre. Imagine a country where the women dress and act like men and the men are mere breeding stock and wear dresses and act like little girls. The hero appears to actually have balls. This amateur desperately needs someone to edit her writing attempts. The last third of this book contains so many grammatical errors and typos, it is difficult to read.

This book was bad! Primarily due to a lack of editing. Seriously the book was ok as far as plot and characters are concerned. Not great but decent. The series has heart. I like that. The editing is horrible. Pull all three books in the series and go over them again. Then release them again. the stories will improve a hundred fold. I guarantee it. There were times that I had to stop and puzzle out what was written so that I could move on.

I know this is a duplicate of my review of book 2 in this series. I just really think this book should not be seen in public without having been edited.

It's like indecent exposure but not in a good way.

I liked the series so far

I liked the series so far, simple as that. When I first picked the first book it looked familiar another story like it came out a a while ago and I noticed a few people commenting on it. Like all books story lines and plots can be changed and this one was one of them. the characters I thought were alive and you got to feel for them. This being the third book had some nice twists and some sad endings. So I would recommend these books. It was a great read and enjoyable.

This book is 370 pages of great information. This book has the updated PTCE blueprint and the chapters are broken up into 9 domains. Plenty of practice questions that are very helpful. However, I did find a lot of mistakes in the book.

I just took the certification exam on Saturday and passed! This study guide goes into great detail and adheres with the blueprint provided on PTCB. I studied this book along with the Pharmacy Technician Exam study guide by LearningExpress for four weeks. I am graduating with a biology degree and have worked as a stockroom assistant for chemistry labs so I was well off on the anatomy and compounding parts. If you are proficient in algebra, the math is not too bad, a lot of it is to remember the conversion factors (ex. 1 tbsp = 15 mL) and to be able to apply it into the equation (which are mostly proportions!)
I honestly think that you can go off with just studying from this book, since I only bought the other one without knowing it was outdated from this exam. I mostly studied from this book. I only really looked at what I needed to know from the blueprint and read up on categories for those.

As a general tip from a finally stress free student to you, I would mainly focus on the math, pharmacy laws, brand-generic drug names and classification, and general rules in the retail and hospital setting.
For my exam, I had a lot of questions that asked about insurance policies
Do the practice exams!! Repetition is the best way to memorize in my opinion

Lots of Errors...Very Annoying

One of the few books out there that is aligned with the current version of the PTCE, it's a valuable resource and I did pass the test this week when I took it. However, the book is FULL of errors. Mostly it is just the kind that proofreading and a good editor would have caught, but apparently those talents were lacking when putting this book together. If you do buy it, first thing to do is register it online and besides the practice tests and flashcards you will have access to, there is a long list of corrections which you should make to the book. I found even MORE mistakes that weren't listed there and there are errors in the online tests as well. Really annoying. Frankly, they should recall this book and release a corrected version.
