About the Author
Bill Peet was the author of 34 books published by Houghton Mifflin. One of these, BILL PEET: AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY, was named a 1989 Caldecott Honor Book. All of Bill Peet’s books published by Houghton Mifflin Company, including his first book for children published in 1959, HUBERT'S HAIR-RAISING ADVENTURE, remain actively in print today.

In both his career as an author and illustrator of children’s books and in his work as sketch artist and continuity illustrator at Walt Disney, Bill Peet created a menagerie of memorable characters. As he himself noted, "I write about animals because I love to draw them. Most of my animal characters have human personalities, and some are much like the people I know."

At Walt Disney, where Bill Peet worked for 27 years, he was a key participant in the production of classic films such as Fantasia, Sleeping Beauty, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, and 101 Dalmatians for which he was not only an artist, but the screenwriter as well.

Bill Peet’s signature style enabled him to create fast-paced stories of fantastical adventure delivered with warmth and laugh-out-loud hilarity. His unfailing humor did not, however, prevent him from addressing such poignant issues as kindness toward others and respect for the environment. Through the exploits of his characters, Peet offered his audience a chance to see themselves and their world through new eyes.

"At some point," Bill Peet once said, "it occurred to me that drawing was something I couldn’t possibly give up, and somehow it must be turned into a profession." He went on to not only fulfill his dream but to introduce generations of young readers to his delightful vision of humor, friendship and compassion.

A cute dragon story

Drufus gets lost from his terrifying dragon family and has to survive on his own. One morning he rescues a bug from a spider's web and he considers that he, like the spider, kills to eat. He decides to eat grass instead and grows into the largest dragon ever. A local king wants a dragon head to put on his wall to impress everyone, and he sends out his knights to find one. Fortunately there are no bones outside his cave since he eats grass, so the knights don't know he's there and they go right past. He is discovered by a boy who refuses to report the dragon to the king for a reward because the dragon hadn't harmed the boy's lamb.

Later Drufus gets injured in a storm and lands on that boy's property. The boy still refuses to tell the king and get the reward. He hides the dragon and helps him heal. The family is poor because the land is too full of rocks and they can't get them out. Drufus over hears this and decides to help them. He clears out the rocks and helps plow the land. The family comes to love the dragon and they work together to bring prosperity to the family.

One day the king finds out about the dragon and goes to get him. The family comes up with a solution that is surprising and funny.

Droofus doesn't really lose his head.

Sorry for that plot-spoiler. As you can see from the cover, Droofus is a cute dragon. He cuddles with lambs and doesn't... exactly do stuff that dragons are commonly associated with (like breathe fire, act menacing, you know...) Several knights don't quite get that, and attempt to put an abrupt end to Droofus, but they don't quite look hard enough for him, and ultimately a detente ensues once everyone realizes that Droofus isn't the menace they believed dragons to be. It teaches a child that snap judgments aren't always the smartest, and may result in someone being hurt. Bill Peet's books are classics with thoughtful messages and excellent illustrations.

Great book to get a good overview of LTE

This book gives a very good and detailed overview of LTE and LTE-A. I am a PhD candidate and I work in the area of cellular networks - I found this book extremely useful to learn the so-many different aspects of LTE and LTE-A in a relatively short time-frame (of 2-3months). I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to get a working knowledge of LTE as a whole (the book provides excellent references too if anyone wishes to go into the details of any particular aspect).

This is a very well written book. The author has done an excellent job of covering various aspect of LTE. The notation is very consistent. For a text book of this size (over 1100 pages) , one normally expects lots of typos. This book breaks that trend. Kudos to the author for creating a very engaging text on LTE and LTE-Advanced.

This is an excellent book - and I believe that it sets standards for structure, scope, clarity, consistency of terminology and authority - for any technical book.

If you want to understand LTE/LTE-A, as a technical person, from a systems perspective, through to node and functional levels, then this book would be difficult to improve on. The historical and standardization context are also excellently presented.

The book is large - but the clear structure allows the reader to find and focus on individual topics. The what, when and why aspects of each node, interface and protocol are treated - with very useful references for further investigation at the end of each chapter.

Highly recommended. This book represents a very successful effort by an author to communicate what they know, in an organized logical way - with clear, consistent language - and terminology.

Was hoping for more information on the element of emotions

Found Dr. Libby Weaver through the 2016 Hay House Summit and listened to her podcast on this book, "Accidentally Overweight." I was intrigued -- interested in how our emotions create excess weight. Most of the book's elements center around the liver, diet, effects of stress, and hormones, with the last element being emotions. I was really hoping for more information on how emotions effect weight, but didn't really find the answer here. I turned to YouTube and watched a video by Teal Swan on why we are overweight, and that was more helpful.

That being said, Dr. Weaver is very good at explaining how the body works and is effected by what we put in our mouths and how we live our lives. This book will help 'most'. I also recommend (for diet) reading "Diet Evolution" by Dr. Steven R. Gundry. I have followed his plan for 5 years and my bloodwork is great; but, there's more to weight than just diet and exercise: specifically [for me] why I have a "need" for fat. Slowly, I'm finding the answers. Dr. Weaver was a fair start.

I thought this was a great book! Having read quite a few "self-help" type books particularly on weight loss, this one is by far the best. It is intelligent, useful, kind, helpful, and interesting. I actually wish I'd read it way before my mid 50s. It would have been quite helpful in my PMS years. LOVED it!!

Must Have for Patch Collectors

Very informative, good pictures. Easy to follow and use. Must have for any patch collector. Mostly army patches. Still a good find. This is second one I bought, 1st one for father who retired from Air Force, 2nd one for family friend after seeing my dads. Now two happy old war vets!

Patches patches and more patches

My father is a WWII patch collector, so I got him this guide as a gift after seeing it at the Viet Nam Travelling memorial in another collectors stack of books. It replaced his old one that is no longer in print anywhere and has even upgraded his information a little bit.

Now, if I could just get him on the computer more so he can read his emails....
