Another Great Zeller Guide to Success!

I've been reading Dirk Zeller's books for many years, focusing on sales and time management. I don't think anything he writes is particularly revolutionary, but his common sense approach makes his works "must reads" for anyone interested in sales.

Pros:
-Lots of useful, immediately relevant information to sales and real estate sales
-Insight into current technology and social media
-Lots of common sense tips and tricks
-Easy to read, well written

Cons:
-The "Dummies" series is good for doses of information, but less useful for a big picture. Although Zeller is an old pro at writing and imparting information, the general "Dummies" format does limit his holistic approach.

Informative and organized

I work a lot with real estate agents and I thought I knew most of the tricks but Dirk Zeller's "Success as a Real Estate Agent" had some items that I didn't realize that a real estate agent did now and when I showed this book to one real estate agent friend, even she was "Whoa, I didn't know about that. I should do that."

The main thing that I got out of "Success as a Real Estate Agent for Dummies" is that one has to be proactive. Just listing a property or taking a prospective buyer to a house isn't what makes a real estate agent. Being proactive and using all the tools available will make the difference between someone who passed the test to get the license and the person who wants to be successful as an agent.

Zeller doesn't let the reader down in that he continues the well-laid out, organized tradition of the "For Dummies" line. He covers everything from online tools, to social media, to presentation, to marketing oneself, to generating more referrals. If I wanted to be a real estate agent in the current market, this book gives me a better idea of what I need to do to be a successful one.

I am contemplating becoming a real estate agent, and this book was a great overview of what to expect, what life of a real estate agent is like, and some of the challenges real estate agents face. It is informative and entertaining, and has convinced me to go ahead and pursue my license. No doubt it will help me hit the ground running and be handy for a long time to come.

The aim of the book is to introduce systematic research on the social and ethical impacts of the use and development of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) as well as the acquisition, use and storage of human genetic information (HGI). The book contributes into enhancing public discussion and reaching fair and democratic decision-making practices in GMO and HGI use and development both on local and global level.

There are currently few European texts which address the issues involved in a theoretical and systematical manner. GENETIC DEMOCRACY have been written from the viewpoint of social and political philosophy rather than that of traditional bioethics. There is a clear need for a throughout and authoritative philosophical and ethical analysis of the issues involved in genetic research and gene technology. Fun fantasy mysteries

Thraxas is a not-well-enough-known series of funny fantasy mystery novels, kinda like Hawk&Fisher visit Discworld.

Important to note that Death and Thraxas is two complete hard to find novels- "Thraxas at the Races" & "Thraxas and the Elvish Isles", both out of print.

Oddly, this world uses Vancian Magic!

Fun and Funny Light Reading

This book is about a sort of private investigator, Thraxas, who has the typical bumbling traits of a comic detective, including a rude manner (more offensive than hard-bitten) and an obsession with beer and gambling. Together with his sometime sidekick Makri, an escaped gladiator from the Orc Pits who is the first female student to attend the Guild College who works as a chainmail bikini-wearing waitress at the local tavern the Avenging Axe and just so happens to be the best warrior in the entire city of Turai, they run around offending people and solving crimes.

This is basically just fun comic fantasy, not epic or life-changing, but wonderful for anyone who likes the Hawk and Fisher series or Terry Pratchett's novels. I highly reccommend it.

Lots of Ideas / Not Her Ideas/ Not For Beginners Limited on Money or Space/ Not All Natural Ingredients

I bought this book for natural soap recipes- and I agree with a few other reviews, not all the ingredients used are natural. I was hoping for some recipes with exotic cold pressed oils, but the recipes use common oils and butters, some good, some not good at all. Pros: the photos are great and so is the spiral bound design. Some of the recipes are simple. Some of the ingredients used are common and easy to find. Some of the recipes look really fun!
Cons: I recognized a great many of the designs from the Amy Warden Soap Challenge and the original artisan soap makers were not given credit (design ideas are not exclusive to the Soap Queen). You're gonna have to spend a WHOLE lot of money buying the molds she uses for the recipes and the equipment. Instead of telling you how many ounces a recipe makes- you get how many bars based on her molds (a pain in the butt for a newbie to figure out using your own molds.) More than half the book is for advanced soap makers. Some recipes call for food items like potato or cucumber or banana- however there are powdered extracts that would be much safer to use IF you were selling these soaps (as far as I know the FDA does not approve raw food in soaps). The book is a copycat of other artisans original works and really instead of using ordinary easy to find molds it compels you to go to her company to buy the equipment (or buy it cheaper here on Amazon :) SOME THINGS YOU NEED:You need a silicone log mold, a wooden slab mold, a individual silicone cavity mold, a silicone slab mold (smaller), and a long log mold with dividers, and round molds, embellishment molds, natural colorants, oxides, tons of essential oils, heating pad, section tools, sodium lactate (in all the recipes), cupcake mold, stamp, rubber mallet, sealable tea bags, herbs, bubble wrap, cookie cutters, powder sifter, chopsticks, frosting bag and tip... it goes on and on. This is not for the beginning soap maker that has limited funds and space (some recipes require the freezer over night). The simplest recipes are the Olive Oil Brine, and Oatmeal Soap for Babies. I give it three stars for the photos, layout, time and effort, the attempt of making it somewhat NATURAL SOAPMAKING, and the spiral binder, and because she used other artisans designs and not her own (even though she doesn't credit them).

Great book! Loved every page!

Loved this book so much that I purchased a second copy for my soaping sister. it is a beautiful book that is well write with a great layout. I read this book from cover to cover. I am an experienced Soapmaker who found it to be quite inspirational. I may try some of her design ideas; at the very least I will use the book for new ideas.

I have seen some complain as to what is natural or not. Anyone can argue as to whether this book uses "natural" ingredients or not. In the United States there is no legal definition for "natural ingredients ". If you don't like a particular ingredient, don't use it.

Not for beginners. Too many ingredients.

I was disappointed in this book. It has a lot of good information, but the author is obviously trying to sell more of her products from her brambleberry.com website. There are way too many ingredients in each recipe. I can't blame her for creating a book in order to support her website. The "Everything Soapmaking " book by Alicia Grosso is so much better. Much simpler recipes that don't break your pocket book. I've been using it for quite a few years and I still use it.

Sci/fi warfare and intrigue at it's finest

This is my second trip into the Black Library and my first Horus Heresy novel. As a non player of the role playing games I got to admit I am becoming a huge fan of the novels. My first book (or collection) was the Ultramarines Omnibus volume 1 by Graham McNeill which was very good. Horus Rising is absolutely amazing. The story tells of the Luna Wolves expeditions during the Emperor of Man's crusade to travel the stars and reunite humanity under the banner of the Imperium of Man. Most of the story follows Captain Loken, a Luna Wolf recently promoted to be one of Warmaster Horus's council as he struggles with learning about chaos, the reasons for the crusade and it's ramifications. Along the way there is major battles, political intrigue, struggles of embedded reporters trying to remain objective, cover ups, plot twists, the struggles for identity, innocence lost and tragedy. I really enjoyed seeing the internal struggle that warriors who were created for war trying to find peace and come to terms with finding fault in the great Emperor's grand plans for the universe. The battle's were also well crafted and highly enjoyable. I recommend this book to sci/fi fantasy fans or fans of the series very highly.

WOW!

Though not entirely new to the Warhammer 40K universe, my exposure had been limited to the 1990's MS DOS game "Space Hulk" (I wore out 3 mice playing this classic!), and last November, 2012 I purchased "Space Marine" for PC. I am still thrilled with it as I explore online play.

Online play led me to meet others, who indirectly piqued my interest in the Warhammer 40K universe, prompting the purchase of this book, "Horus Rising", as well as "Brothers of the Snake" and "Eisenhorn" Omnibus.
Having read "Horus Rising" & "Brothers of the Snake" this Memorial Day weekend I must say again, "WOW!"

Riveting, visual, primal and exhilarating all seem understatements. I have long been a a fan of Robert E. Howard, Barry Sadler and military historical fiction, especially of Rome and ancient cultures, and numerous others throughout history. These novels by Dan Abnett dug deep and kept me on a near adrenalin high for 3 days.

The only problem is they left me thirsting for more...

Like watching a movie

Horus Rising is the first book in the Horus Heresy series. The Horus Heresy is the single most important piece of backstory in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, covering the Great Crusade led by the Emperor of Mankind to re-unite Earth with its lost colonies, the genetically engineered supermen who are the Primarchs and the first Space Marines, and Primarch Horus's promotion to the position of Warmaster to lead the crusade. I'll avoid any spoilers for anyone not familiar with the overall account of the Horus Heresy, but I will say that while I have read many books in the past, this is the first time in a long time that reading a book gave me an adrenaline rush on par with an action movie. Even if you are not familiar with the Warhammer 40,000 universe, if you love scifi and military books you will love the atmosphere given off by this story.

Any history buff will treasure this gem of writing.

I knew Ed when he was in prison in Monroe. We were both teacher assistants in the computer lab in the community college that taught classes in the prison. I have read a LOT of prisoners' writings over the years -- 90% of it pathetically painful to read. I expected Ed's writing to be better than average... but was delighted to find that the book is REMARKABLY well written. He tells just enough of the story to keep things moving along, but not so much that the reader is bogged down in trivial details. The writing is superbly paced. The mark of a good writer is the ability to sustain reader interest page after page, and Ed manages to do just that.

Amazing autobiography...amazing book. Learned a lot about the history as well as about the horrors of prison. A wonderful education, while staying interesting, entertaining and exciting the whole time. Just wonderfully written. The story of Ed Mead's life was truly inspiring. Highly recommend this book!
